CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

This is where the Kraków area reveals its most ancient and deeply hidden secrets.

The museum is a part of a research centre that is a branch of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), and although its collections and archives are made available for research purposes, it has also developed an exhibition targeted at non-experts. This popular scientific display is devoted to the geological structure of the Kraków area: what we see here are the layers of rocks that developed in successive geological periods and fossils discovered by scientists. An opportunity to learn what tectonic shifts formed the lay of the land around Kraków, and how studies of its structure have progressed since the late 18th century.
