Longing for the sun and hot Mediterranean climates? Your timing is perfect: in March Pod Baranami Cinema is hosting the 17th Spanish Cinema Week!

Under the Spanish Sun

The Basque explorer Juan Sebastián del Cano was wont to say that Spain is anywhere where the sun shines. Between 24 and 30 March, we’ll enjoy sunshine at Pod Baranami Cinema: the 17th Spanish Cinema Week means that Kraków briefly becomes a home to corrida, flamenco and outstanding cinematography – and not just from Almodóvar.

We will see films including Jonás Trueba’s The Reconquest, a subtle romance recalling French New Wave cinema, Marc Crehuet’s black comedy The One-Eyed King featuring a confrontation between four friends and two extreme political views, and David Serrano’s romantic comedy We Need to Talk bringing together stars of Spanish cinema Hugo Silva (I’m So Excited) and Michelle Jenner (Julieta). During the special Baranki For Kids, kids will be able to learn about Spanish culture and history and take part in flamenco workshops.

A few days earlier, on 18 March, Pod Baranami Cinema has something special for fans of strong emotions. The Spanish Horror Marathon reveals the darker side of the inhabitants of the Iberian Peninsula. We will see once again that a snowy wilderness can make anyone go crazy (The Path), discover family traditions and religious rituals of two sisters living in a gloomy tenement house in Madrid (Shrew’s Nest) and see for ourselves what punishment awaits for seeking erotic adventures in a mortuary (The Corpse of Anna Fritz). Hasta luego!
