Vienna Days in Kraków
Monday, April 3, 2017 - Wednesday, April 5, 2017
Trends from the Danube
Energising music, urban design and innovations that improve the lives of city dwellers dominate the Vienna Days in Kraków – they’re bound to change the way you think about Austria’s capital!
Vienna has a special place in Kraków’s heart. Not just for historical reasons – as the capital of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire, whose ruler bore the title of Grand Duke of Tuscany and Kraków – but due to the contemporary challenges faced by both metropolises. The cities have been enjoying a successful partnership for many years, as shown once again during Vienna Days in Kraków.
The event headliner is one of the most popular Austrian musicians working today. Parov Stelar is the moniker of the DJ Marcus Füreder – creator of a deceptively simple recipe for perfect clubbing: a cocktail of electronic dance sounds with a twist of swing from a wind section. His Parov Stelar Trio is a dazzling ensemble of the DJ himself, saxophonist called – what else? – Max the Sax, and Jerry Di Monza on trumpet. On 3 April, ICE Kraków hosts the musicians presenting the greatest hits of electro-swing and a pre-premiere of the album The Burning Spider, due for release on 21 April. “Get your dancing shoes on – it will be an unforgettable night!” promise the organisers. As you can see, Vienna isn’t just about salon music and grand classics!
On 4 April, twel distinctive Vienas sofas, known from the MuseumsQuartier – the leading museum and cultural district of Austrian capital city, will be handed over to Kraków. The urban furniture is an example of contemporary design created to provide residents and tourists space for rest and relaxation.
But there will be no time to rest for urban activist from Kraków and Vienna: on 4 and 5 April they will be busy exchanging experiences during the conference Innovative Cities at the International Cultural Centre.
