Just One Night
Sometimes insomnia can be a blessing – especially when it’s time for the 11th Theatre Night!
It’s a night unlike any other. As hours go by, we are immersed in a range of emotions… On a summer Saturday night (17 June), dozens of performances and accompanying events are shown on Kraków’s stages and throughout the city. But be quick – the queues for free tickets are always long and the tickets snapped up instantly!
Many performances are in Polish, but we also have a few suggestions for our English-speaking audiences :)! Bagatela Theatre presents the premiere of Hollow Shells – English language version of the popular play by the Polish journalist and dramatist Marcin Szczygielski. The historical interiors of the Bishop Erazm Ciołek Palace host the “Cracovia Danza” Court Ballet performing Pavane with Shakespeare, while the production at the Kraków Chamber Opera introduces the colourful world of the old days of the countryside surrounding Kraków. The concert Pensive Moon, Distant Stars at the Kraków Opera resounds with Russian songs by composers including Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich. The music spectacle Variété Film Show at Variété Theatre recalls some of the greatest hits of film music, while KTO Theatre comes to the Main Market Square to present a day in the life of a worker at a major corporation in Peregrinus. By the Town Hall Tower we will see a moving dance spectacle The Mourners by Wokół Centrum Group, A Rose for Columbina by Vis à Vis Theatre and a demonstration of fire juggling by the Kraków Street Theatre. Full programme in the Calendar section and on www.krakowskienoce.pl (Justyna Skalska, "Karnet" magazine)
