During the 1970s and 1980s, Poland’s most important presentations of the latest trends in painting, printmaking and sculpture included the regular reviews “Kraków Meetings” and “Sculpture of the Year” organised by the Association of Polish Artists and Designers at the BWA Exhibition Pavilion and the Palace of Art of the Kraków Society of Friends of Fine Arts. The tradition is recalled by the Kraków Branch of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers: Cracovian artists have been invited to participate in a great celebration of the arts under the banner Kraków Artistic Meetings 2017 – CONFIGURATIONS. Painting Sculpture Drawing. The event opens on 30 June at the Bunkier Sztuki Gallery of Contemporary Art. The project includes main exhibitions organised by the Association at the Palace of Art, Pryzmat Gallery, Promotional Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts, in Planty park, at Rynek Podgórski and in the Róż Avenue, as well as dozens of presentations put forward by museums, institutions and private galleries. The main exhibitions can be seen in July, but many accompanying events are held in June.

During the meeting of Kraków’s artistic circles with the public, we will see works by hundreds of authors. Alongside the latest trends and themes, there will also be a nod towards the past, as shown at one of the exhibitions at Bunkier Sztuki “rescuing from oblivion” paintings and sculptures by artists who once took part in the Association’s reviews and which are now classics in their own right.
