Kraków Opera: Requiem

Giuseppe Verdi’s Messa da Requiem intertwines reflection on the fragility of human existence with hope for eternal life after death. The composition which has been performed at such diverse venues as La Scala in Milan and the Theresienstadt concentration camp during the Second World War returns to the repertoire of the Kraków Opera after a few years. Solo parts are performer by Katarzyna Oleś-Blacha (soprano), Anna Lubańska (alto), Tomasz Kuk (tenor) and Volodymyr Pankiv (bass).

Polish artists of world renown, notably Małgorzata Walewska, Mariusz Kwiecień, Andrzej Dobber, Wojtek Śmiłek, and Łukasz Borowicz, enjoy working with the Kraków Opera. The popularity of opera productions in Kraków makes it necessary to book tickets long in advance. The artistic season of the Kraków opera ends on a powerful forte: a summer festival presenting musical productions amid the extraordinary scenery of Wawel Castle courtyard.
