The exhibition of objects selected from the collection of the Museum of Krakow accumulated over 120 years is a birthday present from the institution (until recently operating as the Historical Museum of the City of Kraków) to Cracovians and tourists visiting our city during the summer holidays. The museum was founded on the last day of May in 1899, and today its collection numbers over 170,000 items purchased or donated over the decades. The exhibition 120/120: Presentation of Museum Artefacts at the Theatre Museum at the mediaeval Pod Krzyżem tenement house, held to 31 August, presents the most precious items usually hidden in the museum’s vaults: old city landscapes, portraits of eminent Cracovians and donated artworks and family memorabilia. They include photographs, patriotic archive materials, guild mementoes, Jewish ceremonial art, examples of arts and crafts and early and contemporary art, coins and medals, and Kraków’s unique dazzling models of the nativity scene.(Dorota Dziunikowska, “Karnet” magazine)
