June Alternative

It seamlessly combines theatre, visual arts, performances and happenings. FestivALT is an independent artistic collective and festival of alternative Jewish arts, held between 21 and 30 June. The programme includes Michał Zadara’s spectacle Justice, recalling the events of March 1968 and shown at Nowy Proxima Theatre, and the street performance Lucky Jew presenting a humorous commentary of the popular Polish custom of buying images depicting Jews holding coins “for luck”. Spółdzielnia Ogniwo presents Stephania Freda Leigh’s spatial installation and hosts a concert by Di Libe brent wi a nase Szmate – a female duo from Kraków inspired by Klezmer music, queer culture and stories from Polish-Jewish circles of the interwar period. The programme also features meetings, workshops and alternative tours of Kraków.
