64th Kraków All Souls “Zaduszki” Jazz Festival
Saturday, November 2, 2019 - Sunday, November 10, 2019
In Memoriam
In 1954, on the only day when they were all available – 2 November – Polish jazzmen gathered in the gym of the primary school at Królowej Jadwigi Street; their jam session gave rise to the Kraków All Souls “Zaduszki” Jazz Festival. The 64th festival (2-10 November) focuses on Krzysztof Komeda, with concerts held in Wieliczka, Trzebinia, Lanckorona and Zabierzów as well as Kraków. Events kick off with a performance by the pianist Krzysztof Kobyliński joined by the Italian bandoneon virtuoso Daniele di Bonaventura, while guitarist Marek Napiórkowski presents his new album Hipokamp with a guest performance by the French percussionist Mino Cinélu. On the following evenings, we will hear Antek Krupa’s Psychodelic Blues Band, the Polish/French Inwardness Trio, the bassist Krzysztof Ścierański and guests, the Cuban saxophonist Luis Nubiola and his trio, and the Cracovian ensemble Workaholic and friends. As usual, we celebrate musicians who are no longer with us with a Jazz Holy Mass. The finale of Zaduszki features Grzech Piotrowski with his project One World. (Bartosz Suchecki, “Karnet”)
