Pumpkin Festival
Saturday, September 3, 2022 - Sunday, October 9, 2022
The pumpkin is not just a decoration, which is especially popular during Halloween. Igołomia-Wawrzeńczyce has its own festival, which is accompanied by an outstanding fair!
The Pumpkin Festival has many stages. How many? That depends on the number of farmers willing to display their products! It began with Igołomia-Wawrzeńczyce deciding to take advantage of the fact that many people driving along national road no. 79 stop to buy pumpkins displayed at roadside stalls. The authorities came up with an idea of a festival that promotes local producers and allows customers to buy high-quality products without mark-ups and middlemen.
Thus, the festival was held for the first time last year. Its main protagonist is shown and prominently displayed at numerous backyard stalls and stands, which all take part in a competition organised by the municipality. On the Zagłębie Warzywne Małopolski Facebook fanpage, you can check out the most beautiful stalls, discover recipes for pumpkin dishes and take advantage of expert advice. This year's festival officially started on 3 September, when the co-owner of the family farm, Edgar Latała from Wawrzeńczyce, took the children and adults along the route of an agri-tourist tour.
The festival will culminate on 9 October with a Pumpkin Fair in Wawrzeńczyce. The event will start at 3:00 p.m. and will run for three hours.
The programme of the Pumpkin Fair features:
Presentation of competition works (painted pumpkin, spatial pumpkin, pumpkin cut-out)
Exhibition of different kinds of pumpkins
Stalls with pumpkins
Vegetable delicacies and grilled pumpkin
Animations for children
Tasting stands with pumpkin products prepared by the municipality Country Women’s Associations
