Kraków celebrates international Comedia dell’Arte Days for the 14th time – the folk theatre originating in Italy!

The 14th Comedia dell’Arte days are almost here! This year’s event focuses on educating our audiences, in particular young people. We are planning special theatre lesson about the genre aimed at schools. The lessons will be accompanied by brochures, given to the kids to be completed with their teachers after the event.

Since almost everyone is now online, we have also created a cycle of short films “Comedia dell’Arte in Kraków” depicting the genre’s protagonists in contemporary settings in the city. The videos will be posted on our social media and YouTube. We want to introduce the characters and make them familiar to Cracovian audiences. 

24 February 2023 marks ten years since the first premiere of the spectacle The Neighbour by the KOMEDIANTY Troupe. We will bring back the performance in a refreshed format during Comedia dell’Arte Days. We will also bring back our traditional open comedy workshops – a perfect opportunity to discover the ins-and-outs of working  as a comedian.

To make the celebration of comedy even more attractive, we will present an exhibition of mask and props at Teatr Praska 52 throughout the event. 

Comedia dell’Arte is a part of our collective European heritage, and we all frequently reach for it without even realising. We believe we will show once again that the format is alive and well, and that it has plenty of fans in Kraków.
