The annual summer film festival Summer Cinema Harvest starts on July 7 in Pod Baranami Cinema. It is a two-month-long review of the best films from the past seasons and film classics. The theme of this year’s festival is All the colours of the cinema. The program includes more than 100 films divided into eight themed weeks. Screenings will take place at both Pod Baranami Cinema and in the big auditorium at Małopolska Garden of Arts. Additional open-air screenings will be held in the garden of Manggha Museum.

The summer film festival Summer Cinema Harvest is a great opportunity to catch up and revisit favourite movies. The program consists of both hits from the past seasons as well as cult classics. The title of this year’s edition of the event is ALL THE COLOURS OF THE CINEMA.

Film is the art of image, says Marynia Gierat, director of Kino Pod Baranami. In order to reflect the fullness of cinematic shades and colours, we divided the films into colour-themed weeks. From the rich cinematic palette, we have chosen films with different moods and atmospheres. Take your pick!

THE COLOUR YELLOW - is the radiant shade of the sun, which provokes a smile; THE COLOUR BLUE brings peace and security; THE COLOUR ORANGE is the tone of emotions and feelings. The films of week four are united by THE COLOUR GREEN, evoking harmony and balance; week five is led by THE COLOUR GOLDEN - associated with wealth and luxury; and week six by THE COLOUR INDIGO, a symbol of self-awareness and intuition. The final weeks of the festival will be held under THE COLOUR VIOLET - the tone of nobility and spirituality, and THE COLOUR RED - the colour of fire and passion.

Summer Cinema Harvest  will feature the most talked-about movies of the past season: festival hits (Triangle of Sadness, TÁR, Close), Oscar winners (Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Whale) and box-office hits (The Banshees of Inisherin, Menu, Aftersun). It also features films by established film auteurs such as Wes Anderson, Makoto Shinkai, Yorgos Lanthimos, Wong Kar Wai and Damien Chazelle.

Aficionados of genre cinema can choose from the films filled with music  (Elvis, La La Land), comedies (Polish In-laws, two parts of Book Club) and action films (Bullet Train, Top Gun: Maverick), among others. The program features movies from filmmakers such as Guy Ritchie, George Miller, Quentin Tarantino and Edgar Wright, each of them masterfully playing with genres.

The festival also features Polish films with English subtitles (Johnny, Woman on the Roof, Apokawixa, Dangerous Men, Bread and Salt) and fascinating documentaries (Moonage Daydream, Simona, River, Boylesque).

The programme of the Letnie Tanie Kinobranie festival also includes two special sections. Kultowe Kinobranie (Cult Movies) features timeless, awe-inspiring productions (Coffee and Cigarettes, Fallen Angels, Gone with the Wind, Three Colours: Blue and Red). The second section - Rekomendacje Młodych Ambasadorów (Young Ambassadors' Recommendations) - was prepared together with a group of seventeen (!) Young Ambassadors of Kino Pod Baranami, who shared their favourite titles from recent years.

The screenings of this year's festival will take place at Kino Pod Baranami (27 Main Square) and - for the first time! - in the big auditorium in Małopolska Garden of Arts (12 Rajska Street, level 0).

Additional screenings will take place outdoors, in the atmospheric garden of Manggha Museum. Screening schedule will be published on Kino Pod Baranami’s website and Facebook page.

Among additional events are: Plakatobranie (Film Posters 'Harvesting’ - film poster archive open for the audience), Zbieraj KINO (Kinobranie loyalty program), discounts from festival partners and the traditional trailer quiz.

Selected Polish and foreign films are presented with English subtitles.

The repertoire in the cinema is completed by films available online on Kino Pod Baranami’s online platform: www.e-kinopodbaranami.pl.
