December Peregrinations

30 November 2017

Don’t let the winter blues get you down: December is the time of Christmas, festivities, presents and New Year greetings… And since it’s also the time for reflections, let’s start by recalling some of the most important theatrical events of the year with the Divine Comedy Festival! The tumultuous period on Poland’s stages has featured many outstanding, hard-hitting spectacles – the performances held during all sections of the festival bring unforgettable emotions. Another summary comes to the National Museum with the monumental exhibition dedicated to Stanisław Wyspiański. It pays homage to Kraków’s best known and loved artist, as well as serving as a symbolic finale of events held this year as part of the cycle “Kraków: City of Stanisław Wyspiański”, thanks to which his works resound even more powerfully in the city’s cultural space.

And this space – already far-reaching! – spreads even further in December. Markets are held in different locations in the city, with the flagship Christmas Fair returning to the Main Market Square, while New Year’s Eve parties – which expanded to Nowa Huta and Podgórze as well – gain its fourth, brand new location at Tauron Arena Kraków. The walk All Around Nativity Scenes, a hugely successful project developed in recent years, also expands beyond the city centre. Finally, New Year’s Eve and Day concerts at the ICE Kraków Congress Centre serve as a bridge between 2017 and 2018.

Happy New Year!
