Opening in December!

2 December 2019

How else could we possibly title the invitation to cultural Kraków during the month when an incredible art museum opens its doors once again after a nine-year break? It holds a sizeable portion of the history of Poland and Europe, and the story of the Princes Czartoryski Museum is so fascinating in itself as to be verging on the legendary. It is a beautiful Christmas present for our city, and the museum is bound to be bursting at the seams in December and beyond…

But before you run off to meet the mysterious lady with an ermine, there are plenty more artistic experiences! The great interest in the Divine Comedy Festival confirms its status as the pinnacle of Polish theatrical arts. The twentieth Silent Film Festival abounds with attractions and live music. The All Around Nativity Scenes project creatively develops the idea of the nearly eighty-year-old competition and exhibition of these unique Cracovian constructions (the tradition of their making were Poland’s first entry on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List) and ushers in a festive atmosphere, maintained by numerous Advent and Christmas fairs, concerts and pageants throughout the city. And of course Kraków hosts the traditional New Year’s Eve party! The celebrations are held at the Main Market Square, as well as at the main squares of the Nowa Huta and Podgórze districts.

Happy New Year!
