Bunkier Sztuki
pl. Szczepański 3a
The latest developments in art, as well as the buzz of artists and curators await us in the pavilion in the Planty Garden Ring.
The name of the municipal gallery house and the exhibition pavilion in the Planty Garden Ring make reference to the characteristic shape of the building raised in the 1960s, literally the “bunker of art”. The concrete façade, into which remnants of a historical granary were set, led to the whole being quickly dubbed “a bunker”, a name that became officially accepted throughout Kraków with time. The “Bunker of Art” organises temporary exhibitions of Polish and foreign contemporary art as well as workshops, discussion panels, seminars, and meetings with artists, curators and art critics. Regularly hosted here are also the main exhibitions of major Kraków festivals: Kraków Photo Month and the International Print Triennial, while every autumn the post-competition World Press Photo presentations are certain to attract crowds.
