November Reflections
29 October 2020
It’s difficult to keep optimistic as more news pours in about the worsening pandemic – it came crashing into our lives in March and has been dominating the entire 2020. But does it mean we need culture less than before? In Kraków, the answer is clear: despite all adversities, cultural life is not giving up and November abounds with events. And the fact that many of them are held online doesn’t affect their quality: just look at the programmes for the largest festivals held in November, the cinematic Etiuda&Anima and Sacrum Profanum celebrating contemporary music. The latter is reaching for state-of-the-art technologies to create a pioneering formula, thanks to the PLAY KRAKÓW platform – a VOD service allowing viewers to participate in events in the city remotely.
Even if we have to wear masks to concerts or performances, even if we have to make do with watching events online, it’s definitely worth looking on the bright side. There are also exhibitions at the Museum of Krakow and MOCAK, and brand-new walks under the banner “Become a Visitor in Your Own City!” – plenty of opportunities to interact with beauty and culture and explore the city. Discovering Kraków anew helps us briefly forget about our grey reality and contemporary problems. Stay safe, wear a mask, but don’t give up on the important things in life.
Hang in there!
